Review of Northcote

on 09 May 2012 19:33

They were playing Sky's Monday Night Football when I popped in the other day. No-one seemed very bothered by it (perhaps because it was Blackburn v Wigan). Nice pub though.

Review of Dirty Dicks

Caught the end of the FA Cup final in here. Pretty average place to watch a match, not too busy and no great atmosphere - crowd didn't seem to bothered about the action and everyone had to crane to see one screen. Expensive pints too. Venue itself seemed pretty good though, very big.

Review of The Duke of Wellington

Ended up here one Saturday early evening. Very quiet and the place felt far from classy but they had Spanish football playing on the screen outside - nice bonus. Nothing special though, wouldn't rush back.

Review of The Kings Head

A nice little venue with a great selection of beers and ales on tap. Also the food is pretty good too. Have caught a bit of cricket and football on the screens, although didn't turn up to watch a particular game. More popular in the weekday evenings than at weekends.

Review of Freemasons Arms

on 26 Aug 2011 13:46

Have seen some evening Premier League football here. Wasn't as busy as the Sun Tavern over the road looked and was quite a nice, relaxed place. Pretty standard central London pub though with no great atmosphere (despite its impressive history).

Review of The Water Poet

on 25 Aug 2011 11:03

An often busy pub I've seen a couple of Premiership football matches on the screens in the back room as well as Six Nations rugby on the big projector screen at the front. Decent atmosphere but being so busy it's hard to get served although they do a couple of good ales.

Review of Jetlag Sports Bar

Promotes the fact it has two rooms and shows different games. Actually once watched the first half of one footy match upstairs and the second half of another downstairs. The downstairs one has a big projector screen and seems to be primarily for people who have booked the area/tables out - so that's probably a good idea for a better experience! They also have a massive food menu from around the world though I didn't try any...

Review of Walkabout

on 24 Aug 2011 15:15

It does have the standard Aussie party Walkabout vibe and is pretty big with plenty of screens, although they're not all that big so can involve craning to see from some positions. Gets real busy after work for the evening football matches.

Review of The Kingdom Bar

on 23 Aug 2011 16:08

This is a pretty decent, standard pub for watching football in. Got an Irish history and seems to have its fair share of old Irish men in. They play all the Manchester United and Liverpool games as well as Scottish matches and Gaelic football and the like. Not very big but fairly relaxed.

Review of McGowans

on 23 Aug 2011 11:15

Caught one football match here on the big projector screen over the window. A bit of a ropey place, the bartenders didn't speak much English and there's quite a few drunks at the back. Not very many people in there though, depends whether you think that's a good or bad thing...

Review of The Eight Bells

Caught a football match in here after going to a Fulham game. Was packed with fans at this time and is quite small. Has a big projector screen but no great atmosphere. Wouldn't rush back.

Review of The Gloucester Arms

Caught some Premier League football here a while back. Was a fairly standard chain pub, pretty quiet. Think I saw boxing advertised. Good for huddling in during the winter months mind.

Review of Grand Union

Saw the FA Cup final here, amazing garden for watching games in. Tons of TVs, would be great for summer tournaments. Not sure how well they cover sports other than football. Quite a unique experience. Good burgers as well!
